The lovely Lisa over at Guru Pet Food contacted us to see if Rex would like to try some of their cold pressed dog food and their ever so popular Trip bones.
We tend to give Rex a very simple diet as he tends to get a sensitive stomach if we start chopping and changing things around too much. Treats are generally a minimal thing and used more as training aids or to keep him busy if we have housework and other jobs we need to do. Rex is happy to lay and munch his way through a tasty treat.
Lisa kindly sent Rex some samples of their Surf and Turf cold pressed dog food which is hypoallergenic to try and see what he thinks. We opted for sample packs just in case it wasn’t for Rex as I didn’t want to waste a whole bag of great quality dog food. Rex would do pretty much anything for a treat so I have been introducing this Surf and Turf mix which contains Beef, Sea Fish and Vegetables. All of which have been cold pressed to ensure all of the nutrients stays within the food and isn’t taken away in the cooking process.
This method benefits your dog massively by allowing them to gain all the goodness from the ingredients which will help the flavour and overall all benefits of a balanced diet. The food is the perfect bite sized pieces which fit in our training bag perfectly and as Rex normally has his chicken dry food he is enjoying a change in flavour. This cold pressed food is also Hypoallergenic which is perfect for dogs who have stomach problems.
We are yet to try the grain free recipe which is the Full On Feast which contains Duck, Sea Fish and Vegetables. This cold pressed pet food is also hypoallergenic and contains all the goodness as the Surf and Turf so I’m sure Rex will only have good things to report once he tries this.
Along with the sample packs Rex also received some Trip Bones which are meals in a bone !!! I am a lover of this product and think it is a Pawesome idea for when you are out for the day with your dogs, you don’t really want to be bringing all the bowls and bags of dog food out with you. This Trip Bone just fits nicely in a treat bag or coat pocket. The smaller bones are a meal for a 4kg dog and the larger bones are a meal for a 10kg dog. Rex has had a couple of the small bones which he seemed to tuck in to no problem at all.
They also promote dental hygiene and joint supplements which is perfect for active dogs. They again are cold pressed and hypoallergenic. They contain Chicken and brown rice along with salmon oil, egg yolk and Green Lipped Mussels. The last ingredient, along with the chicken, sold this product for me as they are two key ingredients that are in Rex’s current food, so I knew he would jump at the chance at getting his teeth in to these and I was right!
A borough employee is encouraging other young people to consider entering the world of work if they are unsure about continuing education.
Sam Hulme, from Aspull, started work at Guru Pet Food in Appley Bridge earlier this year after deciding she did not want to go to university due to her dislike of the exam hall.
Former Standish Community High School and Runshaw college student Sam, 19, decided she would do better in full-time work than doing a degree and has already become an indispensable member of the Guru team.
She handles much of the company’s social media and promotional work and also handles design and marketing strategies with co-founder Lisa Clarke.
She said she would also urge other people worried that degree-level study might not be for them to fully consider other options open to them after collecting their GCSE or A-level results.
Sam said: “I’ve always been a bit funny about exams. There is a lot of pressure on them and I’ve always felt like that even though I got the grades. I applied to University and got accepted but then decided it really wasn’t for me. I started researching and my focus was on working with animals and dogs, so eventually I found Guru. The company was quite small but growing fast and Lisa obviously had a lot of work to do, so I was able to help out with a lot of stuff. I do social media and help design the postcards, posters and bags. I’m pushing the business out there because getting everyone to know about Guru is a massive thing for us. I really enjoy it and I don’t regret not going through to higher education. I prefer to be hands-on in a job and I’m earning a wage rather than building up costs at Uni. I love coming into work everyday and it’s worked well for me. Uni and college is not for everyone and if something really excites you then see if there is a local company or an apprenticeship you can do to get stuck in.”
Guru is currently coming up to its first anniversary in business, with Sam playing a major role in putting the birthday celebration together and was founded by Lisa and her husband Andrew to provide an alternative to traditional dog food.
The company uses a little-known method called cold pressing which makes dried food at lower temperatures in order to make the final product more nutritious for pets. Lisa says Sam is an extremely important part of the firm’s seven-strong team at Guru’s Appley Lane North site.
Lisa said: “Sam started in February and it’s got to the stage where I just couldn’t do without her. She does a lot of liaising with bloggers so we can get our name out there and works a lot with Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. I went down the academic route and got a Master’s degree but my husband didn’t and I don’t think that’s necessary to start a business or move one on. Sam is a real asset to the company and I think everybody brings something to the table.”
Let us introduce ourselves, we’re Severus and Lily. Two working cocker spaniels from Spaniel Life.
Lily is 10 months old and Sev is almost 3 years old, together with our Mum we share our fun and adventures with you over Instagram and our dog blog.
Having discovered Guru Pet Food through the instagram world, we’re now super excited to announce that we are their new dog ambassadors for the year….ambassadog’s if you like.
We’re excited to share even more Guru goodness with you over here and on our social channels (Facebook, Twitter and Insta) over the next year and hope we can step into Bella loves Beau’s shoes well enough….do dogs even wear shoes?!
Thanks so much to Team Guru for letting us join as a geekster.
Woofs & Licks xoxo
I was very kindly asked if we’d be interested in trying the new recipe, “Full on Feast” we where very excited as this is Guru’s first grain free food, I try to feed all of our dogs grain free as I think they look better without grain! The dachshunds have tried Guru’s previous recipe “Surf and Turf” which they loved so I had high hopes for this new flavour!
Firstly I always look at the ingredients when the dogs have a new food and Full on Feast didn’t disappoint! The main differences (other than the lack of grain) in the recipe is the change of proteins, the original recipe used Beef, Sea Fish and Vegetables whilst the newer one is Duck, Sea Fish & Vegetables, which the dogs actually preferred! Even our fussy St Bernard, Ava enjoyed the new Guru!
Another thumbs up from us is the fat content! I constantly have to watch the Dachshunds weight, Full on Feast contains only 10%, which is lower than some of the specially formulated diet completes! Except Guru is full of good stuff rather than rubbish!
One of the other things I really love about Guru is their packaging, it’s always beautifully illustrated with naturally muted coordinating colours, which means it stands out without being too bright! (Please ignore the slightly chewed bag in the photos, Daisy spaniel thought it smelt so nice she helped herself!)
Would completely recommend Guru to anyone! Not only is the food brilliant but the whole brand is too!
When the Geeksters asked Welly to try this out he jumped at the chance! Welly is no stranger to Guru, and was currently enjoying his Surf and Turf. His favourite food in the whole world is Duckie….. so couldn’t wait to try it out.
The first thing Welly noticed was the delicious smell when we opened the bag…. the bag is brilliant too as it has a very clever sticky velcro type edge which keeps it easily closed for extra freshness….
One of the other good things with Guru Cold Pressed food, is that your dog will require less food than there regular dry kibble. It has a easy measuring cup, which means you get the portions just right. For doggies new to Guru, they recommend a gradual introduction over a 2 week period. The Guru pellets can be eaten just as they are or you can add some water it makes it easier to swallow and digest.
The back of the bag has all the Analytical and Nutrition information as well as a very impressive ingredient list which reads more like a top restaurant menu! and its grain free for the sensitive types.
Ember has been on Guru’s Surf and Turf for around 5 months now and has been thriving on it. So I was super excited when I found out they were launching a new, grain free, recipe.
Full on feast is literally a full on feast of vegetables, duck and sea fish with sweet potato, healthy oils and fruit too! What’s even more amazing about Guru is their cold pressed food is made with only the best ingredients which are also hypoallergenic and the process involves no animal testing at all.
And of course, most importantly, Ember thinks the taste is great too, when I tested her out with half the full on feast and half her normal surf and turf, she went straight to the yummy full on feast. I’m currently mixing the two foods together and it seems to be going down a treat with Ember. The price is also super reasonable for the quality of food and the cold pressed method means it lasts up to 33% longer than normal kibble.
We were so excited when we found out that Guru were bringing out a new cold pressed food! This recipe is called ‘Full on Feast’ and is made up of Duck, Sea fish and Vegetables and what is even better is that it is grain free! I know lots of dog owners have been dying to join the Guru craze but unfortunately couldn’t because their dogs are grain free, now the wait is over and they can!
Woody just couldn’t wait for me to open his bag and he knew it was a new flavour [I actually think he could smell it was different]. Once I had opened it [carefully supervised by a fluffy spaniel], he was dancing on his feet with excitement. Since moving onto Guru Woody has really enjoyed eating and has started to get excited at meal times. Unlike most dogs when he was fed his normal kibble he would walk off and not touch it all day, so it is lovely to see him eat it straight away with a wag of his tail. Now he’s on the new flavour I also think he eats it even faster [I think this is his favourite!].
We have loved visiting Guru at their last couple of shows and Woody has been a fantastic model [I have to get a photo with his head every time!]. Of course he will do anything for some Guru treats from his Aunty Lisa. Now we have introduced Wilma onto Guru and I’m currently changing her over to it from her puppy food. She made an appearance at their last show at Countryfile Live and took to it like a pro. She spent the day asleep in various spots on the stand, gladly cuddling any visitors then moving on to the very important job of attracting passers by with Andrew. If she grows up with or without dietary requirements like grain free, I know that she can still be happy on Guru pet food.
We love the new food and it gets a big thumbs up from Woody! So if you haven’t already, give it a try and let us know what you think.
Last Weekend saw the first BBC Countryfile Live, held at the gorgeous grounds of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
Guru pet food, of course, packed up their amazing exhibit stand to the beautiful countryside.
Thursday to Sunday was full of fun times on the gorgeous stand, meeting new friends, and much loved old ones. Many fur-friend made it to the stand [and got snapped for theGuru Facebook page]
On Sunday we were invited to join the Guru Geeks on the stand, which we were all thrilled and excited about. By now both Severus and Lily feel totally at home on the stand, running to see Andrew and Lisa, knowing they have food and treats and lots of fusses.
Sam and I feel just at home there too. Knowing good chats and lots of fun will happen, meeting lots of dogs and having Sev and Lily being fussed over and photos snapped of them makes me a very proud fur Mum.
The stand is no doubt show stopping! You can see it over the other white tents from far away, and as well as being full of all the wonderful Guru pet food, it’s always full of lovely people and comfy chairs….those famous Guru chairs that we all want our photo on!
The dogs had so much fun, sneaking road trip bones and posing for photos. Sev also wins over the customers with his amazing cuddles too. Truthfully I love being there as well, getting involved with such an amazing company is very inspiring and something I feel so passionate about. #TEAMGURU
We were invited along to The Game fair by our favourite Geekster’s to visit them on their lovely stand. We arrived mid morning after travelling through the holiday traffic delays and because of the direction we had come from, we ended up in the car park next to the gundog section [perfect!].
It’s the first time I have visited The Game Fair but it was full of every gundog breed possible and was spaniel central! We only had Woody with us because it would have been a bit overwhelming for little Wilma on her second trip outside the garden plus Woody is a proper spaniel for the gundog crowds!
The Guru stand had a perfect view of the scurry that lead onto a lake. Woody could have spent all day sat there watching the dogs work and whining because he wanted to jump in and go swimming [not to mention the endless supply of food and trip bones!]. The event was massive and spread over so much land with stalls heading in all directions, with so many rings to watch different demonstrations.
It was so lovely to see new interest from people with working dog backgrounds finding out about Guru pet food, and I hope their dogs love it as much as mine do! Our day then got even more exciting as we met Maddie [@maddie_and_family and @madelinethespaniel] and some of her gorgeous family. We had a lovely chat getting to know them and Woody even featured in Maddie’s sister’s vlog which you can seeHERE. We were then also lucky enough to meet Ruby [@rubytheboxerdog] who was very happy and had the best wag! Her mum [Made for Mutts] was able to see Woody in real life in his matching set she made him.
I have been a massive Guru fan ever since Woody fell in love with their food but I still don’t know everything! Whilst Lisa was doing her stuff sharing the love with new geekster’s I learnt that cold pressed is the only food you could feed along side raw food. I knew you couldn’t feed normal kibble with raw food because they digest differently in dogs stomachs, but this means that Guru is great for you to take away where it may be difficult to store raw food for your dogs [for example those holidays to the beach!].
We had such a lovely day and I can’t wait to visit Guru again, this time with Wilma in tow. Watch this space over on our Instagram [@thecotswoldspaniels] for our new adventures!
Love Megan, Woody and Wilma x

Right Geeks… if you haven’t already checked the Dog Fest blog by @spaniellife you need to, like NOW!
For starters, how cute are the little munchkins!?
We had an absolute blast with Sev, Lily and their lovely pet parents (Steph and Sam) at Dog Fest!
They’re the loveliest people and Sev & Lily are just too cute to cope!
So as for their blog, here’s a sneak peak of what they had to say: ‘…most amazing stand made for the show, and to exhibit at other dog and country shows around the country this year. It was really what dreams are made of…’
Like we said, you NEED to check it out… so press ‘here’ and off you go!
Remember our furiend Ember from ‘Led Astray’? She did a blog for us reviewing Guru…
Well, she’s now done an update for you 5 months on!
‘Ember has certainly become less boisterous, bouncy and generally crazy, especially on walks. Her coat is so soft and fluffy and we have been able to maintain her current, healthy rate.’
The last couple of weekends have been pawsome with a bit of crazy and a big dollop of fun! We’ve had an absolute blast & can’t thank you geeksters enough for coming along to share our first show experience with us.
It all started with creating the stand & anyone who knows the Guru Geeks can tell you we don’t do anything by halves! It took a lot of time, hard-work and dedication but we feel it definitely payed off. It’s overwhelming to receive so many lovely comments about how it was the best stand there! Lets be fair, we definitely stood out from the crowd…
Can we just say what a lovely bunch you all are! We couldn’t have wished to meet nicer doggies & hoomans!
Cheshire… aka #teamnorth.
What a pleasure it was to meet all our northern Guru Geeks. We were super excited and just couldn’t hold it in when we saw our furiends!
So @_alfiebear_ kindly spent a day on our stand. When he toddled over to us with his yellow bow tie on, in true Guru Geek style of course, we couldn’t cope with his cuteness! He was super gorgeous and so was his mum, Emma. She’s an amazing photographer and we could clearly see how much love she has for Alfie! We suggest you check out their Dog Fest blog.
We also had the pleasure of meeting @winstonwiggles who is such a sweetheart, we fell in love with him as soon as we saw him! Well, how could you not…
Check out his guruvy blog, it made us giggle!
Archie the pug star popped over at Cheshire and ended up in ‘The Telegraph’ thanks to Paul Cooper (@cooperphotosuk) snapping his photo on our stand!
Best of friends Toby (@lifewithtoby)& Amber (@cheshirecav) visited us with their hoomans who were beautiful people and we had such a laugh!
We want to thank @maddie_and_family for choosing the winners of our instagram frame competition, such an amazing family! We had 4 winners, one for everyday of Dog Fest. Each winner won a stylish ‘insta famous’ tag made by our special furiends @barksandbijoux. P.S. Mable is adorable!
Can you deal with @piperthecockapoo?…
…because we can’t! Look at her in her little Guru coat… ADORABLE! Emily, Piper’s mum, is one of the nicest girls ever! Thanks so much for coming & thank you for the little presents, you really didn’t need to (Gino & Duke are glad you did though, they wolfed their handmade treats hehe). It was so lovely to meet you guys.
Lastly, not forgetting @honeyb_doodle. The B’s pallet went down a storm, so many of our geeksters recreating the shot… Even Honey & Bumble recreated it themselves! AMAZING.
Windsor… aka #teamsouth.
You southern geeksters were a pleasure to meet too! We were bursting with excitement once again!
We couldn’t believe how teeny tiny @lifewithrosie was… way too cute. We fell head over heels for lil Rosie! Louise, Rosie’s mum, owns @TheJanuaryRose & makes the most adorable accessories! She was kind enough to give us some hand made geekster tags one saying ‘Lisa’ & the other ‘Sam’ – super cute & totally unnecessary but that’s just how lovely she is!
Sev & Lily from @spaniellife were top geeksters! True cutie pies who would do anything for their pet parents – Lily even ended up on the 4th Guru shelf! Their mum, @StephDreamsBlog, is so creative & her little munchkins ADORE her!
Speaking of Sev & Lily’s @fachsund also headed to our stand with mum Jaime. Lady Lily owned the Guru chairs, they suited her so well! It was great to finally meet you guys & we want to thank you for your card, so nice of you!
Unfortunately our furiend @tunathelongdog couldn’t make it to Dog Fest due to being unwell – booooo, get well soon! x
BUT… we had the pleasant surprise of meeting her little sister Marlowe along with pet parents Eline & Tom, all such lovely people!
Just so you know Luna, Marlowe did you proud!
Michael Rogers (@dogphotosuk) brought Otto along to visit us. An excellent photographer with a very handsome German pointer – now a very handsome GURU GEEK German pointer, hehe!
A huge thanks to @thecotswoldspaniel for stopping by and taking some fabulous photos! Great to meet you Woody and your wonderful family!
Last but definitely not least Storm & Ellie from @thewondercollies with their mum Sian, did a Gurutastic performance for us showing the true trickmutts they are – they were even filmed by Dog Fest!… PAWSOME.
To finish before we waffle on too much, we would like to send a huge thanks, lots of hugs & kisses to all you geeksters who took the time out your busy day to come by our stand to say hello!
Sorry we couldn’t mention you all but you would probably still be reading this next month – but we’re truly grateful to you all for coming. We had the best time ever and that wouldn’t have been possible without you guys, so thank you…
On Sunday Alfie and I headed up to Cheshire to be an official “Guru Geek” at DogFest. We were incredibly honoured to have the opportunity to blog for them at this years event. I’m sure you all aware of who and what Guru are about by now but if you not, I highly recommend checking out this post. Alfie is a very proud Guru fed dog and, as an owner, I am over the moon that I have finally found a dog food that the diva will eat.
We had the best day, I don’t quite know where to start! The stand definitely stood out from the crowd…In true Guru Style!
It was an absolute pleasure to finally meet Lisa, Sam and the team! After constantly connecting over social media it was so good to put faces to the names, and for them to meet little Alf of course – they could hardly contain their excitement! It was incredible to be a part of it, to work with people who has so much passion for what they do! The Guru Geeks were on a serious mission to get their name out there and share with fellow dog lovers just how beneficial their food is.
Alfie soon made himself at home, roaming around the stand freely with his Road Trip bone in his mouth – He was so proud of himself!
If meeting the team wasn’t enough there was a number of Instagram dogs to meet. This was a definite highlight for me as it’s always nice to meet the humans behind the dogs.
First up the very stylish Mabel from Barks & Bijoux. It really was love at first sight for little Alf as he followed her around like a love sick puppy. A slightly unrequited love though as Mabel had her eyes on the cheese! Mabel’s mum makes the most beautiful products for both hound and human, I highly recommend you take a look at their website.
We also made a new friend, the Adorable Winston from @winstonwiggles.. He honestly has a grin that is to die for, the sweetest little character! He is a 3/4’s Pug and 1/4 Chihuahua.. A wonderful mix if you ask me, I could sit and snuggle him all day.
Alf made himself at home on those fabulous leather seats, patiently waiting for more of his friends to come and join us!
Now, we both got a little starstruck meeting this little pugstar! The adorable Darwin from @Cupcake_pug… With a whopping 148 thousand followers he really is a star! and boy did he know how to work the camera, he has posing mastered like a fine art.
Meet the adorable Piper from @piperthecockapoo, the most beautiful girl! I must admit I was completely besotted with her!
Honey and Bumble were definitely stars of the show, it was so lovely to meet them and their humans… I must admit, I have been the following those beauties for so long that I nearly had a bit of a fangirl moment! We even recreated their famous pallet shot – I’m sure you all follow them over on Instagram.
I was in complete doggie heaven the whole time we were on the stand, getting to meet so many wonderful dog owners [and cuddled all of the dogs of course] I loved hearing all about each dogs personality and sharing our own stories.
Thank you again to Lisa and her fabulous team for having me along for the day! Roll on DogFest Windsor!
If you are at Windsor on the Sunday do come say hello! We would love to meet you.
Emma & Alfie xox
Since joining the wonderful instadog community, we’ve been lucky enough to make some fantastic fur friends and, as a result, get to know about the various events, up and down the country, which celebrate our canine companions. Today we attended our first ever DogFest and had the opawatunity to play a part in Guru Pet Foods marvellous stand!
Our story with Guru started several months ago when a post of theirs caught our eye… Winston happily hoiked anything down his neck for his first few months of life, however, as he grew, he started to become incredibly fussy with his food. Now, when I say ‘fussy with his food’, I mean food of the dog variety; as he was, and still is, more than happy to try and demolish a Sunday dinner or a bag of fish and chips. But, his appetite for furbaby friendly food had started to diminish and I was concerned he wasn’t getting the nutrients he needed. I had seen a few posts fill my feed about Guru Pet Food so, I messaged Lisa and asked her for the low down on this doggy dining option. For those of you who haven’t heard of Guru, they specialise in premium quality, cold-pressed dog food. I was completely oblivious to this method before speaking with Lisa but, she explained that it is a unique approach where the ingredients are ground, then gently mixed together. By creating the food in this way, optimum nutrients are kept within the kibble, before they are cold pressed at a temperature of 44 degrees for no longer than a few seconds. By being cold pressed, the food remains as close to a dogs natural diet as possible. The food is also free from additives, and interestingly, gluten… I began to follow a gluten free diet just over 8 months ago, now wait, hold up, don’t stop reading, I promise I’m not going to try and convert any of you to the vegan way of life (I actually had to make the choice for health reasons, not because I want to tell everybody within an 8 mile radius that I’m a vegan!); however, since changing my diet, I had become curious of the effect gluten has on our barking buddies bellies…
So, after I asked Lisa 900 questions about the brand, she sent Winston a free sample to try and the rest is history… As some of you may have seen on Winston’s Instagram, he ate the sample pack in the same amount of time the kibble is cold pressed for! So, our next port of call was to try the field bones… This is where our love affair with Guru really began as these bones are now a firm staple within Winstons world. We do a lot of travelling as a family and the field bones are the perfect alternative to trying to fit 4 days worth of dog food into plastic containers and multiple handbags. Jam packed with nutrients and free of any nasties, these bones are a full meal for fur friends on the go and save a considerable amount of space and spillage on your back seats. I can’t speak for the taste, but, Winston highly approves!
Okay, that’s enough from me, Winston wants to tell you all about his antics today…
Hellos my furbulous friends, Winston here! How is I typing without thumbs I hears you ask? Well, I has bribed the human to types for me. I has told her that I won’t bark at her in the bath or steal her slippers for at least 3 days if she writes this for me. I thinks that’s a very reasonable deal! Today has beens the most pawsome day, as I has spent hours on end chasing tails, tricking humans into givings me treats and sittings on a throne, all from the comforts of the Guru Pet Food stand! When Momz told me that we woulds be blogging for our friends at Guru at DogFest, I was super excited, but, I couldn’t have anticipated the amount of funs I had. First thing this morning, I leapt up at Lisa and the team, gave them multiple licks and kisses, then proceeded to pee all over their beautifully designed hedge seats. Momz wasn’t best pleased, but, I told hers, a pugs gotta do, what a pugs gotta do and I was only letting all my other barking buddies know that I had arrived. Me and the humans then went for a mooch around the stalls and I received a mutt friendly massage! I thinks that was possibly the best 4 minutes of my life and the lady who had the magic hands, had to removes me from the treatment table because I fell asleeps. I don’t know why the humans apologised to the lady, I mean, relaxation is the point right? We followed my pampering session with an ice cream and a brawl with a Newfoundland Hound. Obviously, I was just warming up for my wrestling matches with the Chicken Puggets!
We headed back to the Guru stand and met the one and only Sarah from @whiskersandstitched. Now, Momz tells me that Sarah isn’t actually my personal tailor and she sends her gorgeous doggy accessories across the world, but, I begs to differ. She is one of my very favourite humans and I was so very happy to finally meets her. Next up, we met our new buddie @_alfiebear. Alfie is quite the sophisticated spaniel and he is also incredibly kinds, because him and his lovely Mum fed me cheese until my heart was content and my belly was full. It was only later on that I discovered that Momz had an ulterior motives and the cheese was to make me sit still for photos with Alfie! Not long after, my squad arrived. For those of yous who don’t know the Chicken Puggets, you must get to knows them! We is the new kids on the block and still has much to learn in terms of being a fully fledged dog but, for the time beings, me, @littlepugharry @barneythelittlepug and @winstonnefarius are quite happy to spend our days brawling, stealing snackies off each other’s pawrents and making it incredibly difficults for humans to get photos of us. That’s just how we roll.
I has had a truly wonderwoof day and even bumped into @sarapenwarden @barksandbijoux and the famous @honeyb_doodle… I is one seriously pooped pup now but, I is so very happy to be a Guru geekster! Thank yous for having me Lisa and the team, even after I peed all over your gorgeous display…
Winston has now wandered off, no doubt to catch 40 winks after walking his little legs off today, but, we want to say a huge, enourmous thank you to Lisa and the team for being so incredibly warm and welcoming today and for supporting our Instagram page. We are so incredibly lucky to meet people such as yourself through social media and we only hope that this post will encourage people to check out what the fuss is all about with Guru Pet Food. The products are SO worth the hype, not only because they are well produced, healthy and safe but, because Lisa and her team put their heart and soul into everything they do at Guru. So, thank you to Guru Pet Food for making got our first ever DogFest a memorable one. You truly are pugtastic:) I’m off to put my paws, I mean, feet up with a nice cup of tea and a biscuit; not of the Guru kind on this occasion!
This week I’ve been a super lucky pup. Guru sent me a sample of their Surf & Turf, AND a field bone! (I’m still to munch on that, and I will up date as soon at the Human lets me get my chops round it)
“Millie, you’ve eaten so many treats this bank holiday you are going to turn into a rolly polly! It’s not going to go off, you can have it when we go on our next day trip!” – The Human
We’ve been following GURU for a while now, and are really interested in what they do. I can have a bit of a sensitive tummy, and I over the last 3 years I’ve tended to go off my food, forcing the humans to find different brands, usually that’s more expensive than the last… (it’s ok.. I’m worth it )
The human likes to keep me as heathy as I can be, and she’s always worried that I’m over weight, as I’m her first Frenchie and I only have a little nose extra weight can be super harmful for me.
She’s always looking for a heathy food, that is good for me, that is also affordable.
“Well, for a little dog you sure do seem to be able to spend a lot of money!” – The Human
Anyway…., when changing or trying out food we have to take things slowly in case my tummy doesn’t take to it. I was pretty impressed with GURU though and was very unimpressed when she stopped giving me nibbles to take photos!!!
Human?! Why have you used this photo?? Where’s the one of me woofling???
“Sorry bear cub, this is you mid woofle, and just to funny not to add!” – The Human
Rude! Anyway, we did a bit of research on cold pressed food, as we didn’t really understand what the difference was between this and my normal biscuits. It seems to be quite new but, heather than kibble. Apparently (according to google) it can also help dogs who suffer from bloat as it doesn’t swell in the stomach like kibble, it’s also as close to what my natural diet should be. (which apparently isn’t cheese… who knew?!)
(The insert above is from the GURU website)
On the GURU website you can put in your dogs weight and it will let you know how much you should be feeding your hound.
Pricing. (I’m yet to do the maths… mainly because I’m a dog, and I don’t care much for maths.)
My humans currently spend £45 for 14kg of food, which for me lasts quite a long time. GURU pet food is £48 for 14kg, so only a couple pounds difference. As GURU is compressed I actually need less food per day, and this is where the maths we haven’t done yet comes in. However it works out that roughly every 5 days, I end up getting an extra day’s worth of food (does that make sense?..)
The human was very impresses with how much I enjoyed it, and after reading it may help with my windy issues, she was even more intrigued! Warning this bits, not for while you’re eating… but after my second meal my stools are a lot firmer. Once I’ve finished my current food, the human and the boy are going get a large bag to fully test this product. We will update once we’ve been using the food for a few months to let you know how we get on.
Moving on to the field bone. We’ve been seeing a lot of these on Instagram. I didn’t realise they where made from the same thing as the food, this is genius!
You can get two small ones for £1.99 or a larger one for £2.50. These can be given as treats or as a meal replacement. It’s written on the label how many bones you need to feed your dog, if using as a meal replacement. Shipping is £3.50 so to make it worth while it’s best to stock up.
This is great for a dog like me as I don’t always eat breakfast straight away, then if we are going on a day trip I get hungry and have nothing to eat. (Yes I can hear the mini violins…) this way the human can keep a couple in her handbag and then when we go out I’ll know I won’t have to starve, and I won’t be eating lots of treats instead of my proper meal.
“I tried to get a photo of Millie with her GURU food, but she started nibbling it before I could take the photo… I think I can safely say that GURU is a hit in this house ” – The Human
Thank you for reading. We hope you enjoyed, please let us know if you have by leaving a comment.

Millie – The French bulldog & The Human

Millie The French Bulldog is Sponsored by Spoilt Little Puppy
When Guru contacted me to ask whether I would like to try a sample of their food, I jumped at the chance (well jumped as much as my stumpy legs would let me) as their food sounded very interesting. And not only did they send Alan & I a sample of their unique cold pressed Surf & Turf food to share, but also a Field Trip Bone each!
Guru was founded by Lisa & Andrew who were ‘home feeders’, preparing meals for their own dogs. They quickly saw the benefits in their dogs behaviour and overall health but found that preparing meals was time consuming and wasn’t always practical. In 2013 they set out to find a prepared food that was as close as possible to the home cooked food they had been preparing, adamant from the outset that the food had to be packed full of healthy ingredients and taste great too, Guru was born.
So what is cold pressed food I hear you ask? Guru describes it as:
Cold pressing is a unique method we use to prepare your dog’s food.
The ingredients are ground then gently mixed together. This carefully preserves the nutrients before they are Cold Pressed at a low temperature of 44 degrees for just a few seconds.
This unique cooking method retains as much of the ingredients nutrients as possible. This process is the main difference between our food compared to extrusion which uses high temperatures and pressures.
Not only is this food very nutritious for your dog but it’s also a fab alternative for those raw feeders out there, if you were unable to defrost your food in time for your pooch (shame on you!!) then to have a bag of this as back up would be extremely handy I say!
We love the packaging, its bright but classy and the labelling is really clear. We especially love the symbols along the bottom of the bag which explain what is and isn’t in Guru Food which makes it easier for people to see at a glance when choosing the right food for their dog.
The back of the bag gives you all the information you need to know about Guru Surf & Turf food, the ingredients and feeding guides. Even if your pooch gives you the puppy dog eyes (which I have down to a fine art) you should only feed them the recommended daily allowance.
The food comes in pressed square pellets, Mum said they reminded her of what she fed her Nanny’s ponies when she was a girl, you can either feed this in its original dry form or you can soak it in hot water for 5 minutes or so to create a warm stew-like dinner for your dog.
Now to the most important part, the taste test – I can confirm, it tastes amazing! Alan & I both really enjoyed it, it was so nice and crunchy and we are partial to a fishy dinner!
I had to check we had been given every last morsel…
We were also sent a Field Trip Bone to try, these too are made using the cold pressed method and a perfect tasty treat or on-the-go-meal. These would be brilliant for those long days out when you may not be home in time for dinner (which would be a disaster in my world), your pooch can have a nibble on a Field Trip Bone whilst you devour a roast dinner, yes I’m looking at you Mum…
However, to make this taste test even more authentic and to embrace the full flavour of the Surf & Turf food, I decided to throw on my lobster outfit and feel the full force of the fish…
It tasted just as good as the first time! Mum said to make it even more real, I should smell like fish too however I think this was taking it just a tad too far!
I would highly recommend you head over to Guru and check out their food and you may as well order yourself a sample or even go the full hog (or should that be cod?) and buy a whole bag! You can also grab yourself some Field Trip Bones ready for those long summer days out!
Dach’s all for now – I feel like a right prawn in this costume…

*Please note – this product was sent to us by the company to review however all opinions expressed in this blog are my own
French Bulldogs are known for their somewhat ‘sensitive’ digestion, so it can be a constant struggle to find a food which suits Mabel. We have tried many things over her three years and as a puppy it was particularly hard, with a fortune spent on vet bills and many courses of probiotics. For the most part she is fed on raw, but it is not always convenient and she often has periods where she goes off certain raw meats (even though she will happily eat the same ones cooked!)
We have been following the adventures of Guru Pet Food for a while now, and were intrigued by their ‘cold pressed’ method, where premium ingredients are ground, then gently mixed together before being pressed at low temperatures to ensure that the valuable nutrients don’t get lost in the cooking process.
We love Lisa & Andrew’s dedication to giving dogs the best diet possible and we were thrilled when they asked us if we’d like to try a sample* and Mabel was very excited when the postman delivered her beautifully packaged treats.
Surf & Turf
Guru’s complete food for dogs comes in a ‘surf and turf’ flavour which is Lisa’s favourite when ordering out at restaurants, and it certainly didn’t disappoint Mabel either who loved it on it’s own; mixed with a little warm water and for a breakfast treat on top of some scrambled eggs.
She also loved their Field Trip bone, crying loudly at me while she waited (not at all patiently) for me to hand it over! This is the same cold pressed food in a bone shape and is ideal for those mealtimes when you are away from home, or for an extra treat.
If you are looking to give your dog the very best ingredients, we’d definitely recommend giving Guru a go. Mabel loved it, and so did we! xo
*Although we received this a free sample from Guru, all views are entirely my own (and Mabel’s!)
I’m a big fan of Guru and I have mentioned it a few times on social media, Rosie has now fully converted to the surf and turf recipe – it’s been a big hit with my rather fussy girl!
When first finding Guru through Instagram I was very intrigued and got talking to Lisa about whether it would be suitable for Rosie as she is quite small, we soon arranged for her to try a sample. I looked at the website and was really impressed with what I saw, I had not really heard of cold pressed dog food before but the benefits sounded great and the fact it contains all natural ingredients excited me.
Rosie had no problems with her old food, it was specific to her size and being a small dog she doesn’t usually get on well with standard bigger kibble. She never went mad for it and there was usually some in her bowl throughout the day. I had always had my doubts about it but never really looked into changing as she seemed to be doing fine on it, also I didn’t think it was a ‘bad’ brand. After receiving the Guru sample and seeing how much Rosie enjoyed it I thought I would seriously look into switching to her to Guru, that’s when I came across AllAboutDogFood.com. I spent ages looking through this website comparing food she had tried before – which was a lot when she was younger as she had no real interest in any of them. I was totally shocked to see that Rosie’s old food was rated just 1.8 out of 5!! I felt like an awful dog mum that I had been feeding her this stuff for so long. Guru has a rating of 4.9 which is brilliant and we can see why. The ingredients list is clear and full of natural goodness with lots of benefits for our dogs health.
After finding out more about both foods I was keen to convert Rosie to Guru as soon as possible, I tried slowly introducing it into her usual kibble increasing the percentage of Guru each day. However the whole introducing it slowly didn’t go too well, this is because Rosie absolutely refused to eat her old food. She picked out every last morsel of Guru and disregarded her old food completely.
I have to admit, I thought I was going to have to pay a high price to get Rosie switched to this premium quality cold pressed food but to my pleasant surprise the price is extremely reasonable, you don’t have to feed as much Guru as standard kibble because of all the brilliant nutrients packed into every bite. AllAboutDogFood.com also tells you roughly how much it costs a day to feed your dog on the food, Rosies old one was about 46p a day and now she is on Guru it is only 16P, so that’s another thumbs up. The feeding guide on Guru makes it so easy to find out how much your dogs needs a day, just use the slider and you’ve got your answer – brilliant!
I have never known Rosie to love her every day food so much as this, it makes me so happy to see her trotting to the kitchen when she hears it go in the bowl. With her old food sometimes half her breakfast would still be there when it came to dinner time, its a revolution…she even gets out of bed for Guru so it must be tasty! The pieces of Guru are all different sizes, some of which Rosie has to chew on a bit more, I really think this helps to keep her interested in the food and stops her from gobbling it down too quickly.
Rosie was lucky enough to win a couple of field trip bones in an Instagram competition with Guru. They are great for when we are out and about as they are a complete meal for her so I don’t need to faff around worrying about taking her food too, plus they keep her occupied!
I couldn’t be happier about finding Guru – a food that I am truly happy to feed my dog and she is super happy to eat. It has been Rosie’s food for a couple of months now and she still enjoys as much as she did on day one, I’m thrilled to be feeding her on a food that I can trust to not have all the added nasty bits like other regular kibble – it really is good honest food. I urge you to take a look at AllAboutDogFood.com and find out how your dogs current food compares to Guru, you may be surprised like myself.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about our experience with Guru, there is so much more I could tell you about why I love this fantastic UK brand but there is loads more interesting information on their website here and the super lovely people behind Guru will be more than happy to help if you have any questions. Perhaps you should give your dog a treat and let them try a sample and see what all the buzz is about! Everything about Guru gets 10 out of 10 from us, and if you haven’t noticed already, both Rosie and I really can’t recommend them enough.
If you’re active on social media in the canine community then you may already be familiar with Guru Pet Food. But if you’re not familiar, here’s your chance to learn something new!
Guru was founded by pet parents Lisa and Andrew who originally set out to find a healthy but convenient alternative to home cooking. After many months of research, they discovered cold pressed food and all its benefits for our canine companions.
Cold pressed food is a method in which ensures that the ingredients used retain all of their flavour, aroma, vitamins and nutritional value. Guru comes in bite-size pieces, suitable for any size dog, even puppies – isn’t that great?!
You can grab a sample of Guru’s ‘Surf and Turf” cold pressed dog food on their website. We highly recommend you give it a try! While Guru Pet Food isn’t the cheapest and ranges from £24 for a 5kg bag to £48 for a 14kg bag, when it comes to your dog’s food, the cheapest isn’t always best! Guru is jam packed with nutritional ingredients, it’s worth the money and your pooch will definitely thank you for it!
The geeks of Guru are fantastic in what they do and were even kind enough to send Louie two Field Trip bones, which he enjoyed immensely! While the Field Trip bone is a delicious and mouth-watering treat, it can also be used a complete meal on-the-go (for a 4kg dog) – cool right?!
“All of our ingredients are subject to strict inspection and approval before they are made into the terrifically tasty bites your dog deserves”
Field Trip bones can be purchased on Guru’s website, two for £1.99 which is an absolute bargain! As well as the Field Trip bones, you can also purchase a larger Road Trip bone for £2.50, suitable for larger dogs (10kg). With the summer fast approaching, Louie and I will definitely be stocking up on Field Trip bones ready for all the adventures we have planned!
Overall, we think that Guru is a fantastic company that produces amazing products, our favourite being the Field Trip bones! Guru really care about their customers and provide excellent customer service which we love!
Dog Fest is the pawfect day out for dog lovers and their four-legged friends! It’s a fun-packed day with lots of things to do.

Our last surprise is that we will finally be announcing a NEW RECIPE!
We can’t wait to meet everyone so we hope to see as many Geeksters as possible at our stand!
Ollie & Penny really are spoilt little sausage dogs. I’m sure they should be fat little barrels with stubby Tyrannosaurus Rex arms poking out at this stage, with the amount of treats they are eating lately. I’m sure they will never complain. Maybe it just goes to show that the treats they are eating are quite good for them, healthy and full of natural ingredients – which they enjoy! No big bellies here – and that’s one of the reasons why we recommend the treats that we review & test.
Well today is no exception to that, with the arrival of more yummy healthy treats and some new pet food for the wieners to try out from the lovely people over at Guru Pet Foods in the UK.
Guru Pet Food, as we mentioned are based in Devon in the UK and was founded by pet parents Lisa & Andrew. Back in 2013 they decided that they no longer wanted to feed their dogs dry extruded kibble but wanted to change to a more nutritious food to improve their pets overall health and behaviour. They found that preparing meals themselves was the best option but it was quite time consuming, I think we are all with them on that! So after a lot of research into different manufacturing techniques they discovered cold pressing – and to summarise, Guru Pet Food was born. A cold pressed dog food that retains as much of the ingredients nutrients as possible!
Guru dog food is as close to a dog’s natural diet as you can get!
Today Ollie & Penny have got their paws on Guru’s Surf & Turf dog food plus as an extra treat they also got a Field Trip bone each to try out! Delivery was by courier and was very quick indeed coming from the UK to Ireland. It was a bit unusual that the sausages didn’t notice the arrival of their new treats but that did all change once the goodies were unwrapped! We initially felt a little underwhelmed by the packaging. From a company with such a great online presence and style (do see their fantastic website) we just expected something a bit more than the plain brown envelope that they arrived in. Incidentally, the package was ripped when it arrived but these things can happen in transit and the courier did apologise. Once opened, there wasn’t much in the way of information leaflets or flyers but there was a lovely letter addressed to both Ollie & Penny hoping they enjoy their food. This was a lovely touch and may I add that they did!! =)
Back to the arrival. We have been spoilt recently with all the gorgeous handbaked treats that the sausages have been reviewing. We really appreciate the extra touches that some companies go to, such as the pawfectly wrapped goodies, the hand written notes, including gorgeous postcards and leaflets. We love all that. It’s so important to the get the style and presentation right when trying to sell a product.
First Impressions:
Usually when post for the sausages arrive, no matter what it contains they know it’s for them and have to investigate. As we said above this wasn’t the case this time and there was no investigation, until we unpacked them and sat them on the table for later. The sausages knew they had a new yummy arrival. There was table circling, sniffing, jumping up and longing meaningful glares of “I think that’s for us! Give it to us now!”
So the Field Trip bone was the first up for inspection. These are listed as being hypoallergenic, healthy and nutritious with no added chemicals, preservatives, gluten, colouring or additives. The main ingredient is chicken (28%) followed by brown rice (28%). From their actions Ollie & Penny could obviously smell these on the table – they do have that ‘kibblely’ dog food smell. We know that’s not really a word but I’m sure you all know what they now smell like. For us hoomans it’s not that nice but not off putting either. The Field Trip bones are the smaller of the sizes available, being 13cm x 4cm (thick end) x 1.5cm. Pawfect for smaller dogs like the sausages. The bones are quite hard so we broke them in half (quite easily) for Ollie & Penny to share. We wanted to see how they get on before giving them a whole one each.
Both were straight in to grab their half and retreated to opposite corners of the house. I think its safe to say they really really like these bones. It didn’t take Ollie long to gobble up his. He can be quite quick to eat his treats, and sometimes we have to slow him down as he can get over excited and bit choked up if not supervised. Although half a bone was a bit of a mouthful for him it didn’t cause him any problems. He loved it.
Penny on the other-hand is a completely different type of treat connoisseur. She likes to take her time and savour the flavour in her bed. Her approach was to slowly lick and break it up into smaller more manageable bits to eat. Although the bone appears quite hard she managed this easily herself. Sometimes we have to help her with other treat brands. Again – she loved this and was even licking the bed after it was obviously all gone!
These bones we tested are the smaller size and weigh approximately 47g each. Although we gave them to Ollie & Penny here as a treat they are also recommended as a complete daily meal for dogs weighing 4kg – handy if you are away traveling and haven’t got time to prepare their usual dinner! They also come in large or ‘Road Trip’.
Surf & Turf – Sample
The sausages also received a sample of Guru’s cold pressed food to try out: Surf & Turf! We love the name and the packaging – it really stands out! The ingredient list certainly lives up to the name. They include beef, brown rice, sea fish (…which is a bit ambiguous), sweet potato, vegetables, fruit and lots more! Do see their website for full details! =) Although Ollie has very specific dietary needs, this food looks like it would meet them all! Again it has no added chemicals, preservatives, gluten, colouring or additives. The kibble pieces are slightly larger and rectangular in shape than kibble we’re used to seeing, they can vary in size but are much more substantial in feel – you can see this from the photos.
Breakfast time – our first trial with Surf & Turf. Dare I say it, the sausages knew something different was afoot. They usually get their breakfast kibble mixed with a little hot water to moisten it. This started after Penny was going through her second heat and went off her food. We found it helped her get her appetite back, so it stuck. Now it also doubles up for ease of adding Ollie’s epilepsy tablets. We didn’t change this. It was nice to see some advice on the back of the packet recommending the adding of water to Guru for those doggies (like our two) that may need it! We found that adding water made the kibble turn into more of a gravy while the kibble did keep its shape – it actually looked delicious!! Ollie & Penny certainly thought so – after gobbling their breakfast down they both continued to lick their bowls for a further 5 minutes – then swapped to lick each other’s bowls! =) I think that is two sausage paws up for Guru Pet Food!
*Note: we usually wouldn’t recommend changing your dogs regular diet on a whim like this. It takes time, roughly over a 2 week period to slowly introduce a new food by mixing with a current food. Ollie & Penny had Guru’s food mixed in with their current food over two meals.
Let’s get to the most important bit… Yes we are going to talk about poop.
You can tell a lot about your dogs health and food intake by monitoring their poop. A good diet should produce a solid poop that’s normal in colour an easy to lift. So after feeding the sausages a new food we thought we may be in for a ‘change’ in their poop habits the next day. Although Ollie & Penny only sampled Guru’s food over two meals, there is no better way of judging it than looking at their poop! Straight out with it – their poop was slightly more solid! Yay! We’re putting it down to Guru’s food and possibly the treats. Guru initially passes the poop test – though we’d need to keep feeding Guru over a longer period for an accurate poop result!
Each variety of treat bone and kibble has their own individual benefits and ingredient list which you should check out for yourself on purchase. Guru’s website is quite full of information on their products and has a great frequently asked questions section. We recommend reading up on this especially if you’re thinking of changing to their dog food!
In summary:
Overall Ollie & Penny loved Guru’s Field Trip bones – like really loved them! So it’s a big 9/10!! We really like the idea of using them as a replacement ‘meal’ while you are traveling or on holidays – really handy for when you haven’t got the time to put the usual dinner together. Though we aren’t sure how Ollie & Penny would react to getting a bone instead of dinner. Dinner is dinner at the end of the day and they look on anything else as a treat. Maybe we’ll just give them some Surf & Turf instead!! =)
You can try these Guru Pet Food products out for yourself by going to their website: www.gurupetfood.com where they are priced from £1.99 for the Field Trip bones and from £24.00 per 5kg bag of Surf & Turf!
As far as we can see they only ship currently to the UK – not to Ireland. Hopefully that will change in the future.
Do let us know if your try them out!
*Guru has provided the food & treats for Ollie & Penny to review. All views and opinions expressed are our own and we have received no financial contributions for this review.
Thank You to Dog Photos UK & Otto for this lovely article.
We feed Otto RAW dog food, produced and supplied by Natural Instinct. Otto went onto this when he was about 10-12 weeks old and it suits him and us as well. He looks great on it and he is so calm at home whilst being extremely active outside. For us RAW food is as close to what dogs would eat in the wild and that just makes sense to us.
That being said RAW dog food does have some drawbacks, mainly the handling & storage. We have two freezers in the garage and even after a year, we are still constantly having to remind ourselves to get a few packs of the frozen food out so that it is defrosted in time to feed. Add to this complications of going away for a few days with frozen RAW dog food without a freezer and you can understand why some aren’t keen. So what are the alternatives?
Well of course there are loads of wet and dry foods that aren’t RAW but it’s a bit of a minefield that’s for sure! One of the newer types of dog food is cold-pressed which means you can have many of the benefits of RAW dog food in a dry non RAW format. The biggest problem with dry kibble food is the extrusion process which cooks all the ingredients and can take a lot of the goodness out. Cold pressing doesn’t do this. To find out more about the different types of food I’d suggest you head over to All About Dog Food and take a look at their feeding guide.
Guru pet food is one of the new cold pressed dog food companies and they recently sent Otto a sample to try along with one of their field trip bones, a handy sized treat which can also be a meal in itself.
Well when Otto smelt the food he went mad for it, trying to jump up at the side and steal it away! This is always a good sign. With the small sample we gave Otto a few of the little nuggets of food as when trying new food it’s good to see how they take to it. The answer was it was gone before I had time to get my camera ready!
With the field trip bone I was a bit quicker off the mark, as you can see from the photos. I liked the idea of being able to have a treat or meal in a handy size which you can’t do with raw food treats. Otto obviously liked the idea too as he chewed through it in no time.
If you’re interested I’d suggest to learn more about cold-pressed food you check out the Guru website where they have a wealth of information available. If you are interested the various types of dog food and reviews on them from dog owners take a look at All About Dog Food, a really useful website.
Interestingly for me Guru and Natural Instinct receive similar scores and positive reviews on All About Dog Food. If RAW becomes unmanageable in the future I’d be confident to try switching to Guru. For now I’d be keen to keep using the treat bones as handy snacks for when we’re out and about for a day trip. Otto tells me he’d be happy with that too!
I was kindly contacted by the lovely people at Guru asking if we’d be interested in trying some of their products, I’d seen their brand on Instagram and had read that their food was cold pressed which I’d never tried before so jumped at the chance!
One of the first things I noticed was their gorgeous packaging – I absolutely love the colours they use which would instantly grab my attention in a pet shop! It is decorative without being over the top and easy to ready which is super helpful.
It came with a letter addressing all 5 of the dogs (all in chronological order and spelt correctly so kudos for that!!)
The first thing I opened was the Field Trip bone, this is such a clever product which I will most definitely buy again! The bone is the equivalent to one meal for a 4kg dog, this is perfect for me as when we go to shows we often have to get up extremely early so the dogs get fed at the show, the smaller bones come in a pack of 2 for £1.99 which is an absolute bargain and the larger Road Trip bones are the equivalent to one meal for a 10kg dog and retail at £2.50. I’ve saved ours to test at our next show 🙂
Anyone that knows me will know that I can spend hours taking about and researching dog foods as I’m incredibly fussy about what the dachshunds can have and Guru only contains high quality ingredients including Beef, Ocean fish, Green Lipped Muscles and fish oil!
The food itself is made up of larger pieces which is good for my two as it means they actually have to chew it rather than inhale it in one go! The food can also be served with warm water to change the texture (there is a helpful video on their webpage explaining how to do this!). One of the things that really stood out to me is the easy use feeding calculator which tells you the amount the dog should be on for its weight, for example Lily and Sev weigh 5kilos each so if they eat Guru alone they would need 60grams. I feed mine raw food as their main meal and due to the way guru is made they are safe to have it alongside the raw so have been having a small sprinkle mixed in which they love!
Overall we think Guru is a fab independent brand with brilliant customer service (they where more than happy to answer my constant flow of questions!) and I would definitely recommend this food! In fact I’m off to go and order some more Field Trip bones ready for the 9th of April!
